Boise

As the result of a merger with South Johnson & Co. in January of 2005, LeMaster & Daniels welcomed Boise as its 12th office. Staff here have served the area for 17 years.

Boise is located in the southwestern region of Idaho and earned its name from a French word that means, “wooded,” which was first used by French-Canadian fur trappers along the Boise River.

Although formally established as the capital of Idaho in 1864, legend has it the change was secretly enacted by government members who stole the state seal from the then capital, Lewistown, and quickly relocated it to Boise in the dark of night. They wanted to avoid the angry crowd that they were sure would emerge once the approved change was made public.

Boise also boasts a few firsts; Idaho’s first radio station was KFAU at Boise High School in 1922, the first commercial airmail service in the U.S. began in Boise in 1926, and the first television station in Idaho opened in Boise in 1953.

Today the great outdoors beckon many people to live in and visit Boise.  Whether to enjoy world famous white water rafting, mountain biking in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, or skiing and snowboarding, you’ll find it all in this growing city.

Also, as the largest metropolitan area in Idaho you’ll find culture and entertainment wherever you go. You can experience places such as the Black History Museum, Hispanic Cultural Center and the Basque Museum and Cultural Center. In fact, Boise has the largest concentration of Basque people living outside of Spain in the world.

Boise is also one of the most likeable and livable cities in America. Its population of 185,000 residents enjoys a mild climate perfect for playing outdoors or enjoying the city’s mix of entertainment and culture.
