Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best way to apply for a position with LeMaster Daniels?
You can apply right here. Be sure to include your current résumé and a cover letter. We appreciate it when student applicants include their most recent transcript as well, along with this form.

What can I expect in the interview process?
If we like your résumé and think you might be compatible with our style and culture, we'll likely ring you up and chat for a little bit. (Usually we'll call within a day or two of receiving your application, but that isn't always the case, so bear with us.) If our conversation merits further discussion, we'll invite you in to talk further with some of the people you might be working with.

We try to avoid rigid, panel-like, interrogation-style interview formats and favor a more conversational environment. We'll typically ask behavior-based questions and look for specific examples of times you demonstrated the skills, qualities, or characteristics that we hope to find in our recruits. Be prepared to tell us about yourself, your accomplishments, and career objectives. Relax and be yourself. We certainly will.

How should students apply for internships and full-time positions?
We love students and recent graduates, and we spend a lot of time at Northwest colleges and universities looking for the right ones to join our team or be a part of our internship program. (Check out our Campus Calendar to see when we'll be in your neighborhood.) Keep an eye out for events at your school, but by all means, don't sit around waiting for us to come to you – contact us at any time if you're considering an internship or full-time employment after graduation. Just follow the regular application procedure.

What's the work environment like at LeMaster Daniels?
Overall, we'd have to say it's a really good balance between work and play.

We're all about outstanding service, industry leadership, and innovative practices. Our work environment is designed to draw your greatest talent from the farthest reaches of your potential. It's challenging, invigorating, and satisfying.

But it's also a lot of fun. Each of our offices has its own vibe and style, but one thing is the same at all of them: we're an enjoyable, friendly, family-like place to work. From Halloween costume contests to April Fools' Day pranks, light-hearted antics liven up the workday. At all times of the year, we work together on community projects and charitable efforts. During busy seasons, we ply our employees with catered lunches, massages, and all sorts of little indulgences to restore and reward them.

And there's no question at all that our families are Priority Number One. You won't miss your little one's graduation from kindergarten or your son's debut as starting goalie or your daughter's last trip to the orthodontist because you're stuck at the office. Life doesn't come to a halt between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. – and we think you should be there for it.

How is job performance measured at LeMaster Daniels?
First, we make sure that employees and managers both have a clear, written understanding of their responsibilities and goals. Then, about once a month, we sit down and talk about them. This encourages constant mentoring and communication – plus it works as an ongoing tally sheet of your achievements. We think that's much fairer and far more effective than keeping mute until annual review time.

We also make room for peer recognition. You can acknowledge a coworker (or be acknowledged by one) for hard work and special efforts with company-paid rewards.

What are growth opportunities like at LeMaster Daniels? Is promoting from within a regular practice?
It's really quite simple. If you have the talent, drive, and penchant for excellence, you'll go as far as you want to at LeMaster Daniels. We're 100 years old and still growing for a reason: our people. We devote significant resources to training and mentorship programs designed to keep you at the top of your game and up to speed on the latest industry developments. When management positions open, the first place we look to fill them is from among our own, because starting with the best is the way we do business.

Is it possible to transfer to another office in the firm?
Of course. Relocation is almost always a possibility, based on office needs and your particular position. And one of the great things about having 13 offices across Washington and Idaho is that it gives us a whole network of expertise to draw on and learn from, so we always encourage interacting with your colleagues and counterparts in other locations. Our offices are well integrated, so we're able to give big-company expertise in a small-company fashion.
