Established firm supports new business
Creating and sustaining strong communities takes futuristic vision. Every once in a while, that vision lends itself to a risky, novel idea. An idea promising local growth. An idea whose very success is determined by the support of long-standing establishments.
Recently, LeMaster Daniels saw potential in a start-up organization and has extended financial support to the new idea.
Try this on for size:
A downtown Spokane grocery store where you’ll have access to Green Bluff strawberries, Upper Columbia peaches, Eastern WA grass-fed meats, and Taylor Farms shellfish - all in one location.
Main Markets Cooperative Grocery was conceived to bring fresh, healthy food for the residents and visitors of downtown Spokane, to partner with local area producers and provide consumer goods that are healthy for the body and the environment. This is part of an initiative began by Jim Sheehan, of Jim Sheehan’s Community Building LLC.
“We partner with Main Market because it’s a local business where both producers and consumers benefit,” said John Bjorkman, a Member in the Spokane office. “Farmers can provide their goods directly to people who want to buy locally and eat quality food.”
Strengthening our region’s sustainable agriculture, honoring farmers and ranchers, and strengthening community development are just a few of the things we share in common with Main Market. After all, we've been working closely with those who work the land for over a century.
“We’re excited to support the local community in this way,” Bjorkman said.
