Othello office donates time to Habitat for Humanity “Blitz Build” event
Every day, LeMaster Daniels employees strive to give back to their communities. Some days, their efforts are more obvious than others. Take the employees from our Othello office, which named Sept. 26 their “Make a Difference Day” and volunteered with Heart of the Basin Habitat Humanity, based in Othello.
Staff members and spouses joined in the “Blitz Build,” an intensive building phase completed over a short period of time. For this project, the framing of a home was completed in two days.
“I think it’s amazing that it goes up so quickly and looks so professional, since many of the untrained workers are professional accountants,” Othello Receptionist Mary Ann Kirkpatrick said.
Volunteer and office Supervisor Jessica Lustig was similarly impressed.
“There was such a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day,” Jessica said. “When you build a home there is a physical manifestation of your work that can be seen immediately. Our financial statements are printed and bound into an attractive notebook, but walking through the doorway of a house that did not exist 10 hours earlier is a very different sensation from handing a financial statement to your client.”
