This one was for the dogs...and cats! The "LeMaster to None" team had a great time during the Parade of PAWS benefiting the Spokane Humane Society (SHS). Over 250 people came out to walk the shelter dogs (or their own), raising over $32,000. The "LeMaster to None" team brought in $1051.00 (3rd place overall.) In addition to the funds raised, four dogs were adopted at the event, with more adoptions in the works. Team LeMaster consisted of Leanne Scott, Anita Pielaet, Teresa Lutey, Marlene DeVito, and Diane Shnoes. Diane was MC of the event and was recently named the new President of the Spokane Humane Society. She formerly served as Treasurer. May 2006 L&D featured a geographically diverse Bloomsday Corporate Cup team this year, comprised of runners from Spokane, Wenatchee and Yakima. The five person team, aptly named "Running Our Assets Off," placed 15th out of 26 in their division and 160th out of 283 teams overall. But the team wasn't the only diverse aspect of the race. This year, participants braved stormy skies, blustery winds, rain, and even a snowflake or two! Corporate Cup team members were Warren Erickson, Clint Marvel, Lee Podoll, Kristi Seefried, and Wanda Todd. Non-Cup runners were Sherri Davis and Sue Langley. April 2006 In Spokane, twenty participants on the LeMaster & Daniels Race for the Cure Team took to the road to support the fight against breast cancer. Funds raised go to the Eastern Washington Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and are used locally for vital breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs and nationally to support the search for a cure. This year, the L&D team raised $900.
More racing took place in April when a team of nine from Spokane took to the indoor speedway supporting the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery in their first annual Karts4Kids fundraiser. The group raced for one hour and the person with the best time advanced to the final round of competition. Danny O'Neill was the lucky winner, but sadly, he didn't win in the final round. Other racers included Sean Johnson, Kim Felton, Jeremy Newcomb, and Kelly Bleggi.
March 2006
Alice Hardin, seated left, Spokane/Corporate Director of HR, hammed it up in Ferris High School’s annual parent play Ham on Regal. The play, presented since 1963, is designed to bring parents and teachers together in an effort to build relationships while raising funds for school programs.
This year’s event was titled “The Ferrist of them All” and featured a spoofed up concoction of fractured fairy tales, music, and mystery. Nearly 200 parents participate every year, and since its inception the play has raised over $1 million dollars for programs
February Thanks again to the volunteering efforts of Betty Hubbard, executive assistant in the Spokane office, L&D was able to contribute to the Burgers with a Heart fundraiser, an annual joint effort between Spokane Red Robin restaurants and the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery. Kathy Bafaro, administrative assistant, ordered burgers for the entire office’s lunch from Red Robin, which from Feb 14 – Feb 27 donates $.50 to VBCN for every burger ordered at any of its three Spokane locations. This is the second year L&D has participated in the event, raising nearly $200 by simply eating lunch!
The event raises funds for the Nursery, an organization committed to ending child abuse and neglect.
Sponsorships: Go Red For Women luncheon.
