Greg Brault, CPA Chief Operating Officer 1045 East Main Othello, WA 99344 P: (509) 488-9621 F: (509) 488-3531 | Othello Othello offers many outdoor adventures. You can hike in the spectacular channeled scablands at the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge. Bird watchers might enjoy the view at seep lakes, a wintering site for tens of thousands of waterfowl. And we can't forget the Sandhill Crane Festival, during which thousands of Sandhill Cranes gather in local fields and skies. In the summer months, water-skiing and golf are popular outdoor activities. For hunters and fisherman, pheasant are abundant in area farm fields, as are the trout in the local Potholes area. The community's summer Sun Faire celebration focuses on fine arts with Art in the Park, an outdoor exhibition of Northwest artisans. July 4th events include the Firecracker Fun Fly, sponsored by a club of remote control aircraft enthusiasts. There are also performances by the Othello Theatre Guild and the Choral and Orchestra Society to attend. Four city facilities provide tennis courts, a swimming pool and full park amenities. More than 60 crops are produced in the area around Othello-including potatoes that produce half the nation's french fries. Othello's school system offers high-tech instruction, including a branch of Big Bend Community College on the high-school campus, which provides high school students with the opportunity to take advantage of the Running Start program, as well as giving the community an educational boost in the arm. < Back to Locations |
